Stoney Creek Hotel Announces March Opening
Stoney Creek Hospitality is wrapping up construction and putting on the finishing touches on its newest Stoney Creek Hotel and Conference Center, slated to open in March.
Located near Bass Pro Shop at the Falls of Crackerneck Creek, the hotel has 167 guest rooms in a variety of styles, equipped with numerous amenities for both business travelers and families. Stoney Creek's atmosphere combines an unconventional experience with earthy, lodge themed décor and prides itself in providing a highly personalized, unique experience to its guests.
"We're excited to introduce Stoney Creek to the area and show the community the distinctiveness our staff and property brings to the lodging experience," said Kim Drautz, president and chief operating officer of Stoney Creek Hospitality. "We've worked with the City of Independence and tourism departments to create a conference center that will be able to draw events to the area."
The 31,000 square foot conference center boasts eight meeting spaces, ranging from 675-9,000 square feet. The space will fill a need for a larger conference and events venue in Independence and has the capacity to host a wide range of events, including trade shows, conventions and weddings.
The hotel features natural yet modern furnishings, and offers relaxing views overlooking the surrounding 18-acre lake and its 100-foot waterfall and two-mile walking trail. Additionally, Stoney Creek incorporates local history and the story of Independence's first mayor, William McCoy in McCoy's Whiskey and Wine Bar.
"We've included unique features and design elements in each room," Drautz said. "Our goal is for customers to feel like they're staying in someone's guest room, not just another nondescript cookie-cutter hotel."
Stoney Creek will employ around 50-60 people.

About Stoney Creek Hospitality
Stoney Creek Hospitality was founded by owner James H. Thompson in 1994 with the concept of Stoney Creek Inn. Since his original dream, 11 Stoney Creek properties, one Grand Lodge Waterpark Resort and the Historic Park Inn, have been added for a total collection of 13 properties. Stoney Creek's 14th property will open in Independence, Mo. in 2015. Stoney Creek stands apart from the sameness of cookie-cutter hotels by creating a special place physically, a special place functionally, and a special place emotionally for its business and leisure guests.
